Welcome to Samonas Traditional Villas

Our Villas are located in the picturesque Apokoronas Region, 20 km south-east away from Chania Town in a quiet, peaceful environment offering an enchanting view of the White Mountains and of the Cretan sea.

Samonas Villas

Samonas includes five two-storey Villas which offer a panoramic view of the surrounding area and of the sea. Each Villa is placed on a different level of Samonas complex but they share the same pool and courtyards. They have different names according to their decoration, that is Blue, Orange, Green, Purple and Red Villa. But each house also bears the name of a local herb too (Mantzourana, Diktamos, Faskomilia, Malotira and Fliskouni) due to the fact that we respect and love our homeland and its "gifts". There are two main entrances to every house with vintage, rustic locks, while there are various luxury amenities available in all of them. comforts and luxury, although they differ in size and layout.

The Villas' decoration is traditional yet elegant with a lot of antiques or folklore items. They have a different size from 50m² (Blue Villa - Mantzourana) to 80m² (Red Villa – Fliskouni) based on the number of people that each can host. Additionally, in Purple Villa guests can relax in the private roof garden, and in Green Villa, they can cook their meal in the traditional wooden stove. Among our facilities are included ceramic cookstoves, a beautiful swimming pool, top quality dinner service, sitting room with fireplace, orthopedic mattress in some of our rooms, handmade furniture carved from beech wood, welcome drink/sweets upon arrival, barbecue, board games, satellite TV, Wi-Fi internet connection, mobile phones and mountain bikes. Upon request and extra charge, we provide traditional breakfast, laptop, excursions, personal trainer, massage, baby sitting and many children facilities.

Our Location

If you are looking for tranquility and serenity, then Samonas Village is the ideal place for you! It is the epitome of authenticity, a village with few locals, surrounded by trees far away from the busy Center of Chania. Relaxation is very easy to accomplish, but you can organize some trips in nearby areas too, like for instance to the Gorge of Diktamos, Aptera with its worth-mentioning ancient remains, Volikas Refuge, Lake Kourna, etc. While spending your holidays in Crete, you must definitely taste the local cuisine, which is based on the Mediterranean diet.

Many local recipes will intrigue you not only thanks to the pure ingredients that are used but also because of their tasty flavor. Some of the delicacies you must absolutely taste are the Cretan Dakos, Kalitsounia (a type of small cheese/spinach pies), cooked snails (Coclious), the traditional rice plate they cook in weddings also known as Gamopilafo, the Bugatsa of Chania (sweet pie) and the honey pies from Sfakia (Sfakianes). Last but not least, you should drink the famous Raki/Tsikoudia alcoholic beverage after you finish your food or the Cretan Wine.
